Pastor Everett

Rev. Dr. Otha L. Everett

Pastor, Greater Union Baptist Church
Perry, GA

Pastor Otha Everett is a spirit-filled man of God who has always had a deep love and sense of compassion for others. Pastor Everett has whole-heartedly embraced family as his first ministry. Otha is the second of four children born to proud parents, Otha Lee and Mary Ann Everett. Being raised and supported in a God-fearing home; Otha was given a great foundation that allowed him to seek the same in his adulthood. On October 4th, 1997, Otha wed Tina Rouse and the two have established their own love filled home where God is the head. To this union, God has blessed them with two sons, Keshawn Lenard and Keenen Matthew.

Although best known for his gift of preaching, he also has a background in the area of music in which he plays the drums and loves to sing Gods praises. Pastor Everett knew there was a calling upon his life that he could not ignore. Reverend Everett accepted his calling to preach the Gospel. He was ordained at the Beulah Baptist Church under the tutelage of his mentor, pastor, and grandfather, the late Rev. Matthew Brown. He has served on the ministerial staff as an Associate Minister and Youth Minister at Beulah Baptist Church, Macon. Pastor Everett was later called to serve as the Assistant Pastor of Laurens Hill Baptist Church, Dudley.

In 2003, Rev. Everett was asked to serve as the Pastor of White Springs Baptist Church in Lizella, carrying out all of the duties and responsibilities of Gods called Shepherd. He served faithfully as their pastor for five years. In 2008, the Greater Union Baptist Church family confirmed call’s divine appointment and called Reverend Everett as their next Visionary Leader. Pastor Everett came with a sincere desire to administer to the church according to the Word of God as he preached and taught the Gospel. During his 10 years of service at Greater Union, church membership has grown and lives have been changed. More than 15 ministries have been established and/or reorganized under his spiritual guidance.

Pastor Everett’s emphasis on the need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God’s Word has resulted in the development of “Praise and Word” night, 4th Sunday Baptist Training Union, increased attendance at Bible Study and Sunday School. So much so, that a separate session has been established for our teens and another for our youth in Bible Study. Children’s Church has been expanded to accommodate our youth.

Educationally, Pastor Everett earned a Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State (College) University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He furthered his studies at Fort Valley State University where he obtained his Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. In 2012, Rev. Everett earned his ED.D in Counseling and Psychology from Argosy University. Pastor Everett continues to seek knowledge. He attends conferences with the fellowship Baptist state and the National Baptist Congress as well.

Rev. Everett has extensive background experience in grief and marital counseling, case management, Mental Health, family counseling, and is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. In November 2015, Pastor Everett and co-partners opened The Rehab Center, which provides counseling and consulting services, located at Carroll Street in Perry.

Dr. Everett also serves as Correspondence Secretary for the Union Baptist Missionary and Educational Association of Middle Georgia, Incorporated. In 2019, Dr. Everett was elected to be the 1st Vice Moderator of the UBMEA association. In addition, he provides instruction for the Ushers/Greeters as well as educates others on counseling principles at the 5th Sunday congress.

As one of the founders and the first president of the Pastoral Alliance, Pastor Everett desires for others to come together, learn from one another, and bless the community in the process. Job 23:10 says, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come forth pure as gold.” Such seems to be the threads that have woven the fabric of the life and ministry of the Reverend Otha Everett. A passionate leader, dynamic teacher, powerful preacher, and an anointed visionary. As construction of a new sanctuary for Greater Union is underway, we look forward to walking with our leader as the Lord continues to use Rev. Dr. Everett to reach all people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
